  14. voici la description en anglais biensur a vos dico 1959 Volkswagen Type 2 Transporter Microbus Kombi Here’s a nice example of a microbus restored as needed to original stock condition, and I have no reservations it is quite capable of doing very well in the show circuits as well as being an enjoyable driver, with the confident feeling of having a done bus free of shortcuts, and incorrectness so common today. This is likely one of the finest unmolested examples of a pre-1960 Kombi existing today. History: This bus was originally purchased in late 1959 (May 1959 constructed) and used by Contour Pools of Phillipsburg, NJ as a pool service vehicle until 1963 where it was stored inside until it’s rediscovery in 1994. At the time of purchase in 1959, the roof was painted white as was common to keep summer heat down, and logos were applied to each rear panel above the wheel well. Original documentation in the form of a NJ 1963 registration, registered license plates, original owners manual, and service booklet exist with the car, providing this documentation as well as the engine and chassis numbers. I am the third registered owner since new, the first being the pool company. This bus runs and drives great, I recently drove it on a 500-mile adventure and would drive it anywhere. Miles: There are 66,000 original miles. Mechanicals: Engine: The matching numbers 36hp engine has been fully rebuilt and is equipped with 100% German and original parts to the late 1959 specifications as factory. It still bears the heaters and thermostat unit. Not much else to say, it’s a showroom engine. It has about 1500 miles since rebuild. Transmission: The transmission has been recently replaced with another year correct unit, which is fully functional in all gears. Shifts and drive beautifully. New nose cone seal, input shaft seal, new axle boots. This is a partially synchronized transmission; you must completely stop to engage 1st or reverse, unless you are skilled in the double clutch technique. This is correct and as stock. 1.39 reduction units, as stock are installed and leak free. Brakes: All brakes have been redone on all corners. E-brakes are functional. Tires: The bus has 5 matching Coker reproduction Firestone 6.70x15 bias ply tubeless tires, on original correct wheels, all dated 5/59. Electrical: Everything works and is original 6 volt. All lighting and lenses are original, not reproductions. The horn is not original and is new Bosch as well as the starter. This doesn’t ‘need’ a 12 volt conversion. Incidental Mechanicals: Rebuilt original fuel tap, 100% functional with an easy pull on the cable to reserve fuel. New reserve cable, choke cable, accel cable, clutch cable, heater cables, rear brake hoses, front brake hoses, brake components, accel rod boot, shifter coupler, rear shocks. NOS SWF wiper blades. Suspension: This still bears the original VW shocks up front, and I replaced the rears with correctly painted rear shocks, since one had a bad eyelet. Spring plates and ride level are all right on. Body: The body was painted to freshen it in the mid 1990s, using a single stage dove blue, so it is repainted once. The pop out frames, turn signals, dash, bulkhead, parcel tray are all original paint. The interior floor cargo area and ceiling were reprimed correctly as original. This is a bus that didn’t need really need repaint to cover metal work, because there is little metal work even done. All the floors are original, all the door skins, body skins are original German steel. The area in front of each rear wheel shows signs of correct replacement gauged metal. The battery trays are original showing no sign of replacement. The body was not ‘over straightened’ so the subtle construction of an original bus shows in the paint, as it would have been upon delivery. I even have touch up paint to include with the bus, along with the rest of the spare part ‘goody bag’ the buyer will receive. There is one small ding in the body behind the rear cargo door, I haven't been able to get a paintless professional in to remove it yet, it's and easy fix with no paint damage and barely noticible. . Undercarriage: The undercarriage is original and still shows the VW grey primer in many large areas. I had planned a full concourse undercarriage job, but had reservations if it ‘needed it yet’. It would be easy to accomplish if desired. I repainted the splash pan in the grey. The heater cables are not hooked to the boxes at the moment, but all the stale air heat system is in place, so it will be easy to stay warm on fall drives. Interior: The interior is in excellent condition. The original tool kit and Jack are included and in excellent condition. Door panels, roof panel, visor, gauge, switches, levers, knobs, shifter, handles, are all VW original. The front seat is the original, showing a nice patina to a greyish brown as VW grey upholstery ‘turned’ as time passed. Because this was a commercial use, there were no rear seats when found. So seats from another Kombi were installed in the middle and rear, both dealer NEW takeouts laying around and are in incredible shape! The steering wheel is perfect. Early Kombis didn’t come with cargo mats. This was added, one for the luggage shelf, cargo floor, and a reproduction front mat was installed for all new floormats. Glass: you will notice the pass side slider glass is cracked. I have an VW SIGLA NOS replacement piece going with the bus. The balance of the glass is in wonderful condition, but is not all original, a couple panes were replaced over the buses service years in the early 60s with as-2 glass. This consists of one stationary, one windshield. This is a ‘2popout’ bus, both of the rear windows open, as well as the front and vent wings. Seals are in great shape. Title: This bus is titled as a PA Antique vehicle. It was last subjected to safety inspection in 2006 (it is now exempt in my state) since it was titled as a Classic and it passed of course. It is NOT a reconstructed title and is ‘clean’. If a PA resident purchases this bus, the tags will be signed off to them if desired and allowed by PA law. Terms: I expect a buyer to complete payment in full within 14 days after closure of auction. Title will be delivered by Fedex overnight or in person if possible immediately after full payment is received. I accept cash, bank to bank transfers, loan checks and checks. Any form of payment that requires clearing from my bank to confirm authenticity and therefore clearing and availability of funds will require the same associated wait until title can be achieved, since no bank seems to trust checks of nearly any form these days and I must follow suit. I can happily store the bus at no cost inside under lock and key for up to 45 additional days while shipping is contracted and scheduled, although most providers are much faster than that. As much as I might trust this bus more than my 2003 daily driver, because of it’s vintage, it is sold as is, where is, and no warrantee is implied, expressed, provided, or available. SHIPPING: I have experience in shipping and receiving cars by over the road carriers, and will assist any buyer in shipping arrangements by working with them and the shipping provider to make certain the bus is loaded on time and correctly, with extra care taken as much as I can provide (like removing hubcaps for instance and packing them so they may not fall off in shipping, as VW did). Shipping, titling, tax, and insurance, costs, if any are the BUYERS responsibility. Local pickup is of course possible! Drive her home! Spare parts will be included for the buyer as shipping arrangements allow , always good to have some road spares and extra parts. I can’t stress enough, feel free to contact me. If you want a picture of some minutia, whatever, I will be happy to provide information to buyers. d'autres infos prix et autres photos sur demande...
