Questions sur le Master !
Johnathan Schwemler a répondu à un(e) sujet de Jean-François Descarries dans Stock Car Québec/Canada de Stock-Car Quebecois
I'm still confused, and this doesn't seem clear to me yet, so I'll ask in a different way... If I raced in 2 regular nights at ASE, 3 Masters at ASE and 3 Masters at Airborne, would I be entitled to the Masters points fund, if by some miracle I finished in the top 5 in points? As I see it, because the 3 events at Airborne count towards ASE's final points, then they would count as ASE events participated in when referring to the Masters. Please correct me if I am wrong. -

Special event races are held in Ontario as each track finishes their schedule. I have found a set of rules that the Sportsman (with some modifications) and the Production cars can run in and be competitive (and fun). The race dates I will be competing in Ontario are; September 8th, Capital City Speedway, Ottawa Ontario as part of their "Summer Slam" event September 22nd and 23rd at Barrie, Ontario's Sunset Speedway for their annual "Sunset Shootout" September 29th and 30th we will be hauling to Hamilton Ontario to compete in "Oktoberfest" at Flamboro Speedway, a weekend that is disputably the biggest grass roots racing event in Canada. The competitor for that same title has their 25th annual "Autumn Colours" event over three days the following weekend (5-7 October) at Peterborough Speedway, Peterborough Ontario. Inside Track Magazine often refers to these events as the Ontario fall "playoffs" as any car competing conforms to their hometrack rules and guys like Jason Hathaway, JR Fitzpatrick and others build cars strictly for these races. Another sidetrack... completely unrelated to the original post, but kind of cool. The first year we went down (to Flamboro's $10,000 to win Enduro) with a pit box and tire changing equipment etc. and then found out at the track they had an unusual rule. Drivers were not allowed to leave the track with the cars, that there was an area in the center of the infield (no pit road) that if you needed to make repairs that you would pull into. If you were one of the first cars with trouble, you unloaded your jack and tires from behind the driver's seat and made whatever repairs you needed to. If you were lucky enough to have trouble later in the race, anyone who had pulled out of the race would use their own equipment and tires to help you get back out onto the track faster. IF Enduros were still the way they were 15 years ago that's probably all I would race. Most events were $5,000 to win and the top guys had 2 or 3 cars prepared the same. Our car was like many others, completely stock, with a little bit of an alignment, the strongest stock rims we could find and it looked like a late model between the firewalls. -

Cool eh? 15 years ago we built a potent enduro car for Flamboro. They used to have an annual $10,000 to win enduro race. You had to camp out 2 days in advance of pit gate opening because the starting grid was based on how you were inline. When the cars were all lined up on the track they completely surrounded the track, 3 wide. -

Anyone interested in picking up the rollcage after I finish cutting it off of my chassis is more than welcome to it. I can help change a couple of things on the center section so that it could be used as the basis of a Production car. I have a second complete cage on an ex-CASCAR I'm willing to part with as well.

I figured that I may as well update the general population on news from the 31 ANCA Sportsman camp. My crew and I have decided to remove the rollcage completely and build a fresh cage for the Sportsman car. To make the car competitive, more rigid, and safe we were rebuilding all but three bars on the car. We can still make the first race, if we hustle, but without a major marketing partner, we have decided to focus on building a strong car with the materials we have available. For those who understand the universal language (I read the Montreal Journal by looking at pictures) here are the most recent pics of the 31 ANCA Sportsman at Johnathan Schwemler Racecars near Napierville. Do the LMS run 604 crate engines? or the ZZ4? Either of those engines are a huge difference over our 602, and the LMS cars have a better rear end geometry than our ANCA Sportsman. The way the rules are written, the ANCA Sportsman has a very adjustable (most likely the most liberal rules for a stock g-metric rear clipped car in existence) but it`s not on par with the abilities you have on a 3-link that the lms, NCATS, CASCAR, and most others use. An additional difference is that an LMS has the flexibility of using whatever "pick-up" points they wish on the rear, and very adjustable points on the front clip. (the frame side of the suspension mounts) From my understanding iCAR wishes all the Outlaws to run 602 crates, that would limit the advantage that an LMS has in the power area. Of course the NCATS, ex-CASCAR and LMS should have a distinct advantage over the ANCA Sportsman in the suspension area. -

What draws me to it; a) the NASCAR brand b) if you want to move up from late models (QSS, ANCA Sportsman, ProTrucks, ACT) NASCAR Cdn Tire Series is the next logical place, and the attendance @ Circuit Gilles Villeneuve being 70,000, a lot easier to sell as a roadcourse program c) for the Quebec drivers that are racing in the NCATS program, this is a place for them to develop their talents and provide some additional exposure for their partners What scares me; a) the points fund and weekly prize money is almost laughable b) it's REALLY late in the year to start a program, let alone wait for rules etc. to know what to buy c) one of the track representatives was asking me how much registration was for ASE and didn't understand that we only pay for a license and pit admittance I love watching J.R. Fitzpatrick, Robin Buck and Andrew Ranger wheel and man handle >3000 lbs stock cars through a road course and it looks like tons of fun, so of course I wouldn't mind trying. I would prefer to race ovals... under the NASCAR banner... As far as interest for the series, I know of (and I don't know many people in Quebec) at least 8 parties that are very interested in this program and are looking to prepare cars for it. Most have NASCAR Canadian Tire Series connections.
