  1. Seems like even though Montreal had some of the largest attendance numbers in Nationwide history, they dropped the ball by not making the racing profitable... wierd how Mid-Ohio got that race back after their dismal numbers in comparison...
  2. I'm not really sure what's being argued about... but anytime JF and Joly-Sab are on the same subject it looks like there is a fight! :) I've been following this deal for a long time... the track is within 15 minutes from where my family is and we own property nearby. The intent is to not just have a racetrack, but a substainable business plan to incorporate the facilities into nearly year round use. Some of the business plans for the track premises have included: - a satellite University complex for automotive engineering (there's 3 large programs within an hour's drive) - Ministry of Transportation use of the track - Roadcourse - Karting track (not rentals) similar to Canadian Tire Motorsports Park - Racing school - a Chassis builder/ Race car maintenance facility There is the potential (in that geography) to include some other ideas as well... the Hotel industry is already in the area (Niagra Falls), Toronto and the GTA is 45 mins away, Buffalo New York is even closer, and there is a second border crossing not much further than that. If you look at the population in that general area, it's much more dense for a greater distance than the Montreal area, and especially into the US. If you compare the population on the other side of the border there to what is on the other side here it wouldn't be fair... that area has a huge population in comparison. Also remember... Michigan would be the next closest "big" track to that area... so that area of New York and Ontario is not really serviced by NASCAR yet... Merrittville Speedway just down the road is getting standing room only every week (6,000ish) at their dirt track, 3/4s of the non-Quebec field of NASCAR Canadian Tire Series come from within 2 hours of where the track will be, more Canadian Fortune 500 businesses are based out of the GTA than anywhere else in Canada... If this doesn't go through... especially with how careful they have been to not over project, or over promise, I would personally be shocked. I won't be shocked if it takes another 5 years before they break ground though.
  3. I have 2 350 blocks with 4 bolt mains for sale. Both are older mechanical fuel pump models, come with the stock crank, and need cleaned up. One comes with the complete rotating assembly. Best offer... including trades towards Production/Sportsman parts.
  4. It would be nice! ASE took a different approach a number of years ago than the Ontario Speedway Association took. Oddly enough the OSA is coming closer every season to ASE, but they still fail to embrace certain rules so that the hobbiest racer can still remain (somewhat) competitive with the competitive racer. Call it visionary but ASE's rulebooks have advanced much more than the OSA tracks across almost all the classes. The problem that causes is that when these other tracks catch up with their rules packages that there will be a much steeper learning curve for some the racers, and an additional cost to remain competitive. As more OSA tracks have their rules meetings, it's becoming clear that the OSA is adopting a Sportsman style car for their Thundercar / Super Stock class, with limitations. The OSA tracks are split down the middle on suspension rules, and the allowance of Howe style balljoints and aftermarket (rod and tube) trailing arms. (there are other details, but the main idea is adjustable suspension vs. stock based) I think that when the rule books are amended again in 2016 that either the classes will be as close as they've been since the ProTruck days, or the classes will have died. (6/8 OSA tracks are having car count issues at the Thundercar / Super Stock level) A common set of rules benefits both the racers and the tracks come invitational season. Car counts over 25 are the norm seen at any special race in Ontario. (Flamboro's Oktoberfest 2011 saw 45+ Thundercars)
  5. This Thursday, 18 October 2012, Capital City Speedway will be holding a rules meeting for their Thunder Car division. Major rule changes that are being explored are; - accepting Morin Performance and other Metric replacement tubular frames and clips - allowing the use of front load bolts - modification to the placement of shock mounts - allowing the use of standard transmissions with the possiblity of a weight penalty - allowing the use of disc rear brakes with the possibility of a weight penalty The rules may be of interest to anyone currently owning, selling or buying a Production or Sportsman from ASE. The Thunder Car division has already established rules allowing 602 crate engines, fibreglass and composite bodies, Ford 9" rearends and is primarily a Metric car class. The CCS track staff are intending on aligning their rulebook with other Ontaro Speedway Association tracks, and as the first track to have their annual rule meeting, could be taking the lead in transitioning OSA tracks. The OSA influenced the last major transition in 2010 and the rulebook from that meeting is still in place (with modifications) with six Ontario speedways. The transition, and rules influenced by it, may lead to an even larger market to buy and sell current and future ASE Production and Sportsman cars. The CCS Promotor, Todd Gow, has invited any current and possible future competitors to attend this meeting. For more information feel free to call or text me, Johnathan Schwemler, at 438-402-4022. Anyone interested in receiving a full rulebook in PDF once the rules are solidified can contact me at johnathan.schwemler@jsracecars.com.
  6. Neal Leblond's 28' Fifth Wheel is also for sale. Includes compressor and generator. I believe he's asking $9,000.
  7. Ben, I'll have some stuff floating around the shop early next week. Give me a call, 438-402-4022, and as you know I'm just up the road.
  8. I may have a used one from the 31 car Mario. If you're interested tell Sonni.
  9. I personally have a 28' enclosed, triple axle, tag that needs work that I may be interested in selling if the offer is right. It's older (I'm guessing 10 yrs), could use some TLC, but it`s available. I can be reached at 438-402-4022 if you want to talk.
  10. I have a buddy selling a 2011/2012 24' enclosed, dual axle, tag (bumper pull), used one race season. He's asking $7500.
  11. I just saw this now... are you still looking for tires?
  12. It's been confirmed that Matt Kenseth will be driving the #20 Home Depot / General Dollar Toyota a Joe Gibbs Racing prochain annee.
  13. "Rookie, Karol Thibideau, took home his first win of the seaon in his Ford Fusion. Karol got out front and never looked back. Todd Musker tried to reel him in, but the night belonged to Karol, and if Karol keeps running like that we may see him again in the winners circle." - Capital City Speedway, Stittsville, Ontario Karol is driving the former 77 Sportsman of Benoit Juteau in the Thunder Car class in Ottawa. With help from Patrick Lepore, he has been consistently becoming faster and more consistent. Maybe we'll see Karol and Patrick in ANCA Sportsman at ASE this year or next? Congrats Karol!
  14. That makes more sense... I couldn't make head or tails of it earlier... Thanks!
  15. Any help here? There's a picture in the rules for the Ford 9", so I understand that measurement, but I'm lost on where to measure the stock GM differential. It"s difficult enough building a car to two sets of rules, especially when one set is in a language that you don't completely understand, and I could really use the clarification. Thanks guys for your help, because I really need to weld the motor mounts in tonight.
