Et un dernier que j'ai découvert ce matin, qui me plait bien ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Fincantieri and H2 Yacht Design unveil project Mars Friday, 9 October 2009 Creating a yacht below 3000 GRT, with a futuristic, unique martial exterior profile whose lines gently glide into balanced, relaxing, linear, clean, modern and comfortable interior environments. This was H2's brief for the design of Fincantieri's project Mars. Casual yet sophisticated, minimal yet homely, this mature contemporary interior, combined with a crisp linear design discipline, creates pure understated luxury. The materials convey warmth and variation of tone and texture, whilst providing a refined elegance without excess. Raw rustic detailing, neutral panels in leather or paint with accents of rich stone or timber combine to form a cool modern look. From aft, a distinctive horseshoe seating arrangement adorns the transom. A Further exterior lounge area is connected to the Main Saloon where an enclosed living garden separates you from the back lit bar. The spacious saloon with its feature back lit onyx fireplace and multiple lounge areas lead you on to the entrance lobby where you are greeted with an impressive dual aspect double height space linking the main deck to the owner’s deck above. Enhanced by a glass bridge and seamless oval balustrade, this multifunctional space which converts to a formal dining area, is flanked by further exterior lounge areas and balconies. Further forward, a luxurious VIP Cabin, children’s quarters and guest cabins, which convert to generous suites by the use of a simple sliding partition hidden in a central media unit. The Owner’s Deck is, as expected, fully dedicated to the Owner’s personal requirements. From aft, a private lounge bar and al fresco dining area are present on the aft deck. Forward, a contemporary yet homely lounge area with large fireplace makes for an inviting environment to relax with the family. A glass coffee table provides a view through the deck to the main guest saloon below. Through the open lobby and across the glass bridge is the owner’s cabin entrance. Another small lobby leads you through the open dressing area and onto an imaginative bathroom layout, where a fully glazed bath cubicle and adjustable mirrored panel separate the twin wash basins from the bed head. The Owner’s Suite enhances the openness of space through the use of a sliding mirrored partition which provides adjustable privacy between bathroom and bedroom. A large oval skylight located directly above the master bed, panoramic views and direct access to the foredeck sun beds and pool make this the ultimate Owner’s cabin. A large office space with spectacular views occupies the aft interior of the Bridge Deck, offering quick access to the helideck on the aft deck. On the deck above, a central pool surrounded by dining areas and sunbeds is the perfect hang out for the sun worshipper. A starboard side Beach Club, with direct access to the sea via a swim platform, includes a large gym, Jacuzzi and lounge area, all of which offer impressive sea views. Forward, a sauna and steam room are separated by a cylindrical shower. Project Mars is ready for construction, please contact Fincantieri for more information. Un autre, au dessin nettement moins heureux... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Beyond Design presents project Black Wednesday, 7 October 2009 By Maarten Janssen A few weeks ago, SuperYachtTimes.com reported on a new design by Beyond Design, lead by Mumbai based designer Ashish Gupta, one of India's first innovative yacht design firms. We can now show you more images of this new revolutionary concept. Beyond's project Black, is a 95m design, developed in collaboration with Stolk Marimecs. I met up with Ashish in Monaco on board the Moonen 124 Northlander, to discuss some of the particulars of Project Black. Ashish, who worked as a designer on India's first trideck superyacht Ashena, describes his work “not yacht design, but yacht architecture”. The yacht measures 95 meters, is designed to cruise at high speeds with 16 guests and 25 crew. Some of the unique features on board are the breakfast island on the aft deck, an engine room that can be viewed from the entrance deck, and the grand swim platform. Il y a des choses qui commencent à sortir des chantiers navals réputés, mais ils sont un peu frileux dans l'ensemble : Des projets dévoilés au salon de Monaco : ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Eternal thinking: Future Concept Feadship Aeon Wednesday, 23 September 2009 To mark the opening of the 2009 Monaco Yacht Show, Feadship has unveiled its latest Future Concept Feadship, which offers a dramatic new vision on how the next generation of owners will perceive and experience life onboard a luxury motoryacht. The Aeon concept blends an exceptionally eco-friendly attitude with Feadship design flair and construction excellence. Its spectacular glass tower and green energy system reflects a desire to be at one with the environment in every respect. This is the fourth year in succession that Feadship has used the opening of the boat show season to reveal the fruit of a year’s brainstorming on the future of superyachts. The goal for 2009 was to get inside the mindset of an archetypal Feadship owner in 2020, taking into account new research among clients, the very latest trends from other industries, and the environmental considerations that concern us all. Aeon is the spectacular outcome. “The vast majority of current Feadship owners have an eco-aware attitude and this seems set to deepen in the years ahead,” explains Feadship’s marketing manager Francis Vermeer. “Taking this as a primary source of inspiration, the designers from De Voogt Naval Architects and creatives from the De Vries and Van Lent yards spent countless hours exploring every possible angle. The name Aeon reflects the fact that the choices we make today will have long-lasting consequences both for ourselves and our planet.” Read more about this exciting project later this month on SuperYachtTimes.com. Feadship +31(0)23 524 7000 info@feadship.nl www.feadship.nl ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Project Why by Wally Hermès Yachts Monday, 28 September 2009 Why, Wally Hermès Yachts, today unveils a revolutionary approach to cruising in motor yachts with the presentation of a full size model of its first born, an innovative 58 metre-long 38 metre-wide yacht, in Ancona's shipyard. Wally Hermès Yachts: a joint-venture Why is the result of the joint-venture signed in June 2008 between Hermès and Wally, to develop a new type of motor yacht redefining the art of living on the sea. The iconic Parisian house and the iconic Monaco yacht brand formed an equal partnership whereby each company is fully involved in all aspects of the conception and design of each project. Pierre-Alexis Dumas, Artistic Director of Hermès says : “When we met, in autumn 2007, Luca Bassani Antivari, President of Wally had thought about asking Hermès to accessorise the interior of one of his boats. I was impressed by the daring of his projects. My instinct was to get on board with him and go and seek out new territories in yacht design, but I had no interest in speed.” Luca Bassani Antivari explains: “What I’ve always liked about Hermès, aside from its intrinsic quality, is its audacity and radicalism; its desire to go beyond trends, to make no compromises and to maintain the authenticity of the house. Wally shares the same values, ‘Hermès-on-Land’, ‘Wally-on-Sea’: inevitably our paths had to cross.” Why 58x38 The common values of the two brands have led to a first yacht that offers an unparalleled living space at sea. WHY was developed to give life to this concept assembling a team of dedicated talents in design, engineering, and naval architecture. Then the tried and tested Norwegian Ramform hull characterised by exceptional and unprecedented stability and volume and spotted by Luca Bassani Antivari, revealed itself as the ideal choice to be adapted to the Why 58x38 project. Following this unique adaptation, the decks and the interiors were developed in accordance with the fundamental credo of Why, 'form-equals-function'. Thus were born other innovations in the world of mega yachts: patios generously flooding the interior with natural light, photovoltaic panels on the glass hull sides, as well as on the roof opening, like Venetian blinds, a 25 metre-long forward end swimming pool, and a 36-metre aft deck beach. Why 58x38 offers comfort, privacy, stability, space, independence and sustainability. Sustainability “We are very interested in creating a yacht that will have a low environmental impact”, says Pierre-Alexis Dumas. “Its relationship with the sea must be respectful and easy. Why intends to offer a new way of moving over water by creating an innovative way of managing and recycling its sources and uses of energy.” “If you want to go totally ecological, the only solution is sailing. The reality is that today, 90 % of the market is powerboats, echoes Luca Bassani Antivari. Our aim is to reduce diesel consumption per year and per yacht: 20 to 30 % for propulsion and 40 to 50 % for generation.” Thanks to its specific hull, Why 58x38 requires less power at cruising speed than a boat of equal size. Its diesel-electric propulsion is the most efficient motorisation today, and the surface of the photovoltaic panels, almost 900 square metres, covers most of the boat’s auxiliary system needs. WHY Research and Development plan to optimize this project’s energy consumption by improving the isolation of the yacht and the heat recovery of its engines, and is also investigating the latest wind energy production and wind propulsion system technologies. In comparison to a yacht of the same size, Why 58x38 has been conceived to reduce drastically its energy consumption, saving up to 200 tons of diesel per year. The Why R & D program includes tank testing for hull stability in the SSPA facilities in Sweden, and the construction of a full-scale mock-up in order to allow the design team to fine tune the living areas correctly in accordance with the hull’s unique shape. “The WHY 58X38 yacht looks very unfamiliar but it remains on a human scale. Space is the greatest luxury on the sea, but I believe the new luxury will be the time to enjoy it”, concludes Pierre-Alexis Dumas. 5.
