  1. I don`t have time this morning for a full debriefing of all the news but here are some highlights that caught my attention. The first ever NASCAR Whelen All American weekly roadracing series! 14 races 10 race weekends (two weekends w/ 3 events) 4 divisions - the Spec car - an Outlaw division (proposed 602 crate, with the idea of being able to include other chassis available in the region (Morin, ex-CASCAR chassis and LMS) - an above 1600cc 4 cylinder class - a below 1600cc 4 cylinder class *Rules have not been released as of yet, the Spec Series rules have been finalized Exciting news in the world of racing in this region, of course there are many pieces of the puzzle that remain unclear. 2. Renseignements aux médias : Roxanne Langelier T. 514 995-4227, poste 112 C. 514 476-5122 F. 450-476-0271 rlangelier@circuiticar.com JF can you translate the asteriks part for me? It was a PDF e-mailed over by one of my NCATS buddies
  3. I haven't followed this post in awhile, so I'm not sure if someone else has already announced it. There is a Press Meeting scheduled tomorrow at 2 P.M. regarding the iCAR Sportsman Series. I'd love to go just to find out exactly what is going on. If I do, I will pass on as much of the information as accurately as I can (en anglais, tabrenoch).
  4. When I was talking to Ellie? (Spelling) a couple of weekends ago, it sounded like the family has plans to build an oval, and that the road course would eventually use part of the oval. Projects of that magnitude take some time. The iCAR reps I spoke with were also hinting at expanding to include other Quebec roadcourses in the future.
  5. If someone could translate this afterwards I would greatly appreciate it. I am looking to borrow (or barter to borrow) an 1 3/4" pipe bender and tubing notcher to refabricate the halo and a-pillar bars on my sportsman chassis. The conversion from truck to sportsman *cough cough* left a lot to be desired.
  6. If you're asking "is iCAR the first roadcourse as a NASCAR Home Track?" I would be extremely surprised if the answer was yes. There is a European NASCAR Series that is roadcourse based (very similar to the iCAR Sportsman) that I would imagine would have the first Roadcourse Home Track, or even perhaps the NASCAR (formerly) Corona Series in Mexico, another roadcourse based series. I would do the research to backup my claims, but I'm out in the shop and away from a computer.
  7. I am NOT a fan of splitting up the Sportsman and Late Model style cars by having many sets of rules that have very similar speeds and costs, but a turn key late model like this is fairly priced at $40k. (my previous teams brand spanking new 600 Racing Legends car cost $25k cdn and was worth every penny) Knowing what a new and competitive NCATS car costs ($35k spec engines) two NCATS team owners suggested the iCAR Series as an affordable way to prepare for the Cdn Tire Series. I wish I had the time and support to run both ASE and iCAR for the seat time, the racing here in Quebec is intense and super competitive. Everyone I have seen so far is very passionate about the racing here, and there are far too many options!
  8. The iCAR Sportsman are comparable in rules to some Super Late Model series in other parts of the world. (Other than the conventional springs and Koni shocks)
  9. They will be running the iCAR Sportsman, very similar, but very different to the ANCA Sportsman. Highlights include: 604 Crate w/ 4 bbl and headers Tremec 5 spd Ford 9" w/ 3 link and Detroit locker Johnson Chassis metric based tubular framed chassis w/ adjustable upper control arm pickup points Wilwood 4 piston forged aluminum calipers 2 piece (hat and rotor) 11 3/4" front rotors 3 piece NASCAR style sway bar ARP Musclecar fibreglass bodies The weight is listed at 2700lbs w/o driver and that, plus the hp from the 604 and the great brakes on this car have it rumoured to be slightly faster than a NCATS car around the iCAR roadcourse. iCAR is attempting to make this a "spec" series and is rumoured to have sold 16 chassis so far. They were really promoting themselves at the Canadian Motorsports Expo in Toronto the 10th, 11th and 12th of February, and seemed to have a great deal of interest with both road racing fans and NCATS drivers and teams looking for more seat time. iCAR has priced the car at $39,995.00 turn key, with the availabilty of partial package deals and additional premium options. iCAR Sportsman Unveiling
  10. Mario, check your Facebook or give me a call. JF, I left the fender on top of your hood. JF and Mario, I am packing right now to leave for a family emergency in Ontario, the fender is in the shop and can be delivered at anytime. If you need to contact me, feel free to use my cell number.
  11. Sorry, I was at the CME all weekend. I'll try to call tomorrow afternoon and make arrangements.
  12. When do you need it Mario? I have an extra that just came back from repairs at Performance Fibreglass, it just needs a touch of primer and then shot with paint.
  13. I just had a wild idea! What if the Ontario Lucas Oil Sportsman Series (formerly CASCAR Sportsman) were capable of competing with the QSS? That may only be worth a handful of cars, but the OSS has yet to have their annual driver's meeting. It's the 11th of February in Deleware, Ont. That may not be inline with some other's thinking, but it is an idea! I want to see motorsports in Quebec, Ontario and the rest of Canada continue growing.
  14. Unless some ASE (ANCA) Sportsman sell, or some cars that weren't out last year come out, right now I see 15 ANCA Sportsman at the ASE Sportsman Festival. Of course, I am positive that this number will grow before the end of April.
  15. Keep in the loop with the latest news and pics by liking the raceshop facebook page at Johnathan Schwemler Racecars
  16. This is an old, dead thread, but I thought I'd share some news! Johnathan Schwemler Racecars has resigned new and used video game retailer Game Play Canada to a mulit-year marketing contract, focusing on their online brand gameplaycanada.com. The team is working hard on finding other marketing partners to facilitate a full season schedule at Autodrome St-Eustache, plus the possibilty of a few special events. Ian Blanchard, a 17 year old DIRT Hoosier Stock driver and JSR development driver competed in several fall and mid-winter iRacing.com championship series running under the gameplaycanada.com banner, winning numerous races, a league championship and moving into the top 500 out of nearly 40,000 iRacing.com drivers world-wide. JSR hopes to continue this relationship and give Ian a chance to test in their asphalt ANCA Sportsman late in 2012. In other news, JSR has been working closely with another rookie to the ANCA Sportsman division and both teams hope to make a formal announcement in the upcoming weeks! Driver and owner of the 31 ANCA Sportsman, Johnathan Schwemler, recently participated in his employer's french language testing program surprising many with his results. Since being completely and hopelessly unilingual as of March last year his comprehension level has increased dramatically, thanks mostly to stockcarquebecois.com. He is now placed on a waiting list for a french language course through his employer. Finally, for those of you who love pictures, I have some updates on our little raceshop in the rural area near Napierville, Que.
  17. I have a buddy in Gatineau with some cars. He comes home from holidays 1 Feb. I have a 95 Olds Cutlass (3.1L auto, ABS, traction control, Michelin X-ice tires) and a 96 Toyota Camry (6 cyl, auto, summer tires) sitting at my place. Which Enduro are you racing?
  18. I have a 95 Olds Cutlass Supreme with the 3.1L and auto tranny. The car is at my place in Saint-Jacques-le-Mineur, and is ready to be scrapped. Reason: it's an Ontario car with too many safety things to fix to recieve Quebec plates. I drove it from Kitchener Ont, to here two weeks ago, no problems. Johnathan Schwemler 438-402-4022 I have garage space and a cherry picker if you wish to pull the motor here...
  19. One of the best racecar builders out there. J.R. Is really lucky to have Donnie come back to Fitzpatrick Motorsports, he really brings a lot of skill and experience.
  20. There is a used helmet and hans listed in Capital City Speedways classifieds. I know it's farther than you'd like to go, but you may be able to arrange something... I could get it as far as St Hyacinthe for you...
