Invité Posté(e) le 8 août 2007 Paul Ripley a écrit:I've had the Escort a month now so I'd thought I start a gallery thread so I can look back and see the progress in pictures.. I bought the car from Duncan at RS Automotives (highly recommend them) I'm the forth owner and it has only 64K Full Ford stamped book with every Mot and tax disc This was the day I picked it up The present spec is standard bar a AB stage 1 chip and GRP-A fuel pump. Has the standard Monte spec trim with the Motorsport Recaros, gearknob, steering wheel and the number plaque:- Since buying the car I got rid of those horrid rubber floor mats and found a set (inc the rears) of genuine Ford charcoal carpet mats Plus I changed the Radio/CD player for a Kenwood Face off and added a 12" Punch sub and amp. The wheels are the standard items which have been refurbed with new decals under the lacquer. It was pointed out to me that the Monte Decals on the Sides and tailgate where the wrong colour and font so thanks to Radman and Damo (both Monte Owners) I now have these decals in Graphite fitted as of tonight As you can see in the two above pics the Mallard Green colour shows in different colours in different lights most of the time it looks Greeny blue but in bright light it can look purple and black at night. If I'm honest it wasn't my first choice colour but I have actually grown to love it now and I'm very chuffed with it. This bits weird... After I bought the car I was at home ill with the flu and I was bored and got out some old videos one being the Jeremy Clarkson vid 'Full throttle' the one where all the Escort Cossies race inc the imfamous K44 ACE (Mark Sheads old) which kicks arse in the vid plus Dave Moss's Yum and Ian Howells white WRC kitted car... anyway whilst I was watching I noticed a very familier number plate on a certain Mallard Green Esc Cos... Mine! was shocked rewound the tape back and forth to double check and there it was! Service History shows this was the 2nd owner who was apparently used MAD to tune his car (prob why it was at this event) BTW it came fifth in the race of 10 These are the caps I got:- Love this pic mines the third one in The car was obviously not standard back then I managed to find out it was running a Stage 3 spec chip, Morettes, S/S exhaust, Clear font and side indicators and 18" wheels.. may have been lowered but can really tell. Initially like most people I was going to keep the car fairly standard and intend to stick to that but I have a few issues number 1:- the standard exhaust No point owning a turbo car if it doesn't sound like one! I have bought a full Magnex (beautiful quailty) from Mike R and hope to fit it shortly. Issue number 2: power.. compared to my M3 and past cars like my FRST and Focus RS its very Laggy and pretty slow I have almost all the parts needed for a Stage 3 now and will be visting Grove hopefully soon for the Chip and setup : Personal preferences:- I love the Montes wheels but to be honest they are always going to be a love hate relationship (my Dad thought they where hub caps ) So keeping with the theme of the Monte and my love of the OZ monte style wheels I set about trying to find bigger versions, I stumbled across Fozy's Ash Black Monte in the Gallery sporting some Magnesium 8x18" versions looking fantastic he also mentioned how had they where to find! These wheels where not availible to the public and where only used by WRC rallys cars basically meaning 99% where written off in rallys etc. I must have emailed every Rally prep place in the country! untill after about two weeks I came across Ramsport in North Wales who said yep I have a set from a Genuine Tarmac Spec WRC Escort Cosworth from back in '98 in storage. Expecting them to be rough as I was pleasently surprised to find them near mint! Bent over and paid a lot of dosh for them but they are worth in my opinion The fun doesn't stop there thou as the wheels where GRP-A spec meaning they where the standard ET33 offset and needed GRP-A wheel nuts. So with Fozy's advise (who had the same problems with his) I bought 15mm Hubcentric spacers and new set of GRP-A wheel nuts From http://www.ac-carparts.com/ who where very very helpful and reasonably priced! and at a set of 63mm extended wheels studs from C&B What surprised my the most with these wheels was the weight, they seriously weight next to nothing! I have a set of the same wheels in 16" magnesium wheels at home aswell and they are loads lighter than the smaller rims! I really need to buy some scales! Hope to fit these wheels sortly aswell and will add pics as soon as I have. Other future plans:- I have a set of Ahmed spec Springs, new set of Koni Adjustables's, Mike R's rear beam shims to fit and would like a Secs monitor to put in the space below the Radio. When I've got a bit more dosh gonna buy a black Pro Alloy RS500 intercooler and the missing front splitter (new from ford). Will keep this gallery updated as and when Any comments??
